homemade pumpkin spice syrup

I’ll be completely honest, I kind of really love pumpkin spice; haters can hate because it’s delicious. I went to a cafe recently and the lady who owns the place makes her own pumpkin spice sauce / mix and it was actually the best pumpkin spice latte I’ve ever had. It’s my inspiration for coming up with my own healthy pumpkin spice recipe that’s not too sweet (but still sweet enough) for a treat at home. So here we go:

  • Pumpkin puree – 14 oz can
  • Water – 1 + 1/2 cup
  • Brown sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Vanilla extract – 2 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon – 2 teaspoons
  • Nutmeg – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Cloves – 1/4 teaspoon

  • Stir it all together and heat carefully in a pot on the stove for about 5 minutes.
  • Store in the refrigerator

  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond or coconut milk – heated up (I use a fancy milk frother, but you can just microwave it too)
  • 3 tbsp of pumpkin spice syrup
  • Optional: 1/4 cup of coffee or espresso (more or less depending on your preference), you can also try it with some tea if you’d like (preferably black or maybe even a rooibos)
